HiderBooks began in 1981 manufacturing book boxes from actual books. Soon we developed new designs that had the classic English library look, using fine leathers and papers We began to make quality packages for extraordinary purposes. We also began having customers all over the world. We manufacture quality custom boxes, books and packages including: Archival Clamshells, Slipcases, Portfolios, and Folios, Book Boxes of all kinds, and Book look packaging for product launches. We make Archival Boxes and specialized Storages Boxes for Museums and Libraries. We make book boxes of leather and marble paper and cloth to hold stationary, business cards, and artwork. We custom design and make photography and design Presentation Cases. We specialize in short runs from 1 to 5000. All our packages are made to order, and we design to fit your concept. All our boxes are unique, customized and personalized. Everything is made in our Catskill factory. Our company is a wholesale manufacturer of special short runs of specialized packaging. We design and make unique boxes and presentations. The Frank Lloyd Wright shelf, ( pictured) was made to fit 4 little volumes, Dave, our designer was inspired by Wright's chair design--you can see it pictured on the cover. Initially a short run of 200 pieces, because of Dave's design the sales went over 4,000. The little holly flask box pictured here, is covered in antique Christmas paper. This was from some rolls of 1915 paper that we were saving for a pretty little project like this.
These boxes are archival storage boxes made for the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. We made them of Archivart Multiuse board, in special sizes for sculpture storage, and we added metal corners for stacking. We also handle archival materials for library and museum storage. We have made portfolios in every size imaginable, we have made them to protect photographs, fashion designs, precious etchings, prints, and drawings as well as for antique stock certificates. We can onlay labels, stamp names and folio numbers, emboss and deboss the covers. We can cover them in leather fabric or paper. We can line them with acid free paper, with or without flaps. We can give you closure with velcro, traditional twill tape, ribbon or good old fashioned button and string.
We can give you wooden frames for your folio (we are the only ones who can) and make this wood of archivally sound bass wood. The portfolio pictured was for the Alliance group, for their shareholder's report. They selected a green leather cover with an inlay label, which in turn is a reproduction of Church's etching, "Seahorse Nymph" which is in their collection. We are a small company but we are proud to have some big accomplishments. The little blue book pictured was for the White House. It was selected to be the gift for the Arts and Humanities Commission by the First Lady. We were also selected to make the slipcase for the book Treasures of the Library of Congress, the presentation gift for the Russian President, Mikhail Gorbachev from the Librarian of Congress.
With the first President Bush, Secretary of Commerce Mossbacher chose us to represent the US and our little business card boxes were given as gifts to foreign dignitaries. Pictured here are a number of these card boxes we have made for corporations and museums.
About slipcases too, we've made many sizes and materials. Here is a Protective book box we made for a valuable antique volume on golf. We made this slipcase to further protect the book and its' box.
We have done a lot of designing of special product packaging. For example, this handmade leather box was made for Schieffelin's new bottle for Johnny Walker. The Johnny Walker box is 8 sided and lined with custom woven logo fabric. The top is padded and fitted out as a men's leather jewelry case.
